Scenic itinerary VENETIAN LAGOON with Visit of the two islands of the Venetian Lagoon: Burano and Murano.

Burano: the island of Burano actually consists of four separate islands connected together by bridges. Originally a fishing village, Burano became famous as a lacemaking community in the 16th century. Although there is a school of lacemaking, few women perform this craft today.
Burano is an easy place to explore on foot, with the main attraction being the brightly painted houses with clothes hanging out to dry. Around each corner the scene is more interesting than the last.  With its narrow streets, there is basically one main street, called Calle Galuppi, and it is filled with shops and small cafes such as Bar Caffe Palmisano, where you can enjoy a cappuccino along with some of the famous Italian S-shaped cookies. Calle Galuppi is also a favorite with locals for their evening passeggiata and everyday socializing. The shops here also are painted in bright colors, keeping with the same tradition as the houses.

Murano: is an island town close to Venice's northern shore. It's does still have a Grand Canal, some elegant palazzi and a couple of fine churches. Murano is most famous for its glassmaking factories, and tourists throng the main canalsides, which are lined with shops and showrooms. In 1291 Venice's glass furnaces were all moved to this island, to protect the city from outbreaks of fire. Venice was famed for its glass, and any glass-makers who left the lagoon were viewed as traitors - there are lurid tales of them being pursued and assassinated. Glass is still Murano's trade, although it's as much a tourist attraction as a centre of industry nowadays. You'll see glass everywhere you turn: an outdoors Christmas tree of glass; a street-shrine with a glass Madonna and Child. It's a good place to buy your gifts, and although the canalsides get crowded, there are so many shops that you can generally manage to browse in peace.

-Punta Sabbioni -  MURANO AND BURANO – St. Mark’s Square – Punta Sabbioni euro 18,00 per person (round trip)

-Scenic Itinerary of the GRAND CANAL with Visit of the two islands of the Venetian Lagoon: Burano and Murano.

The Grand Canal is the main waterway of Venice , following a natural channel that traces a reverse-S course from St. Mark’s Basilica to Santa Chiara Church and divides the city into two parts. It connects at various points with a maze of smaller canals. These waterways carry the bulk of Venetian transportation by traditional gondolas and now mainly by motorboats and small steamers (vaporetti). The Grand Canal is lined on either side by palaces, churches, hotels, and other public buildings in Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles and is bridged at three points (at about the midpoint by the famous Rialto Bridge).
